It has been said that one person’s trash is another person’s
treasure, but how much “treasure” can our homes hold? Over time, keepsakes and
everyday items accumulate and become clutter, taking up valuable living space.
Nineteenth-century philosopher Henry David Thoreau has urged us to “simplify,
simplify,” and failure to do so when it comes to home organization will
eventually result in living environments reminiscent of what you may see on an episode
of Hoarders: Buried Alive. The de-cluttering process may be a daunting task,
but think about the time you could save by organizing your home. |

Tax Season:Two words that make most people cringe (unless
you’re a CPA). It’s that time of year
again! This is a time of year that our budget and finances (which have always,
most likely, been an issue) force their way into your brain and wiggle out in a
frown. Don’t you hate it? I just spent several hours printing up my statements
and swimming through all of the medical and personal receipts- not fun. Just the
topic of taxes make me want to curl up inside myself and not peek until after
April 15. |

 Nature is a
wonderful teacher if we will take the time to watch and learn. It is God’s way of showing us how life has
similarities in all living beings.
If you ever
have had the sheer pleasure of watching brilliant bluebirds in your backyard,
you have probably noticed some unique behaviors regarding their nesting boxes
at different seasons of the year.
Today the
bluebird provided an illustration of how we, as mothers, grieve the past seasons
of life, especially the years of childrearing. |

With autumn comes my favorite time of year: brilliant
oranges and glowing reds, a chill in the air, and most importantly an earlier
sundown. You might think I’m crazy or maybe you agree: When the sun goes down
earlier, I feel happier. But, most people feel the opposite.
Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)is where most people need
more day light to increase their functionality during the season. With the days
getting shorter, the nights getting longer, and the weather about to
dramatically change, SAD is something to be aware of regarding your mental
health. |

 The news warns us of record highs, dangerous air quality and
protecting pets, elderly and children in this heat wave. You come inside from a
quick walk to the mailbox drenched- gross! At this point in a heat wave, your
body and your mind are telling you to stay in and stay cool.
But what about putting yourself in a stressful situation? Your
body may through up a red flag or two, then through up a white one and just
surrender. Are you the type to fight these dangerous situations or surrender? |
